About the Project
The Vehicle Cyber-Security Trend Radar is a tool for informing and tracking emerging security trends in the automotive industry. It is intended to help industry members make informed strategic decisions for their future automotive Cyber-Security landscape.
Initially funded by Daimler Truck and created by researchers from the Institute of Energy Efficient Mobility at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, the vehicle security trend radar is a non-profit community-driven project that aims to collect and assess technology trends relevant to the field of vehicle security. It helps our domain keep track of relevant developments and enables strategic decisions. The trend collection and categorization are based on scientific methods and volunteer security experts.
- Comprehensive Coverage - Spans four key domains of automotive Cyber-Security and ensures quality based on a transparent method.
- Dependency Mapping - Visualizes relationships between different security trends
- Actionable Insights - Provides clear recommendations based on impact levels
- Flexible Visualization - Offers both radar and grid views for different analytical perspectives
- Security Planning - Identify and prioritize security initiatives for vehicle development
- Risk Assessment - Evaluate emerging threats and their potential impact on automotive systems
- Technology Roadmapping - Plan security technology implementation based on dependencies and horizons
- Education & Awareness - Increase understanding of automotive Cyber-Security landscape among stakeholders
The Automotive Cyber-Security Trend Radar is continuously evolving. Future plans include:
- Automated Trend Crawler - Automation of trend collection and assessment to ensure continuous updates and broad coverage.
- Widely Adopted Trends - Publication of today's widely adopted trends to provide an overview of today's landscape.
- Trend Research - Active research into selected trends to provide deeper insights and recommendations, as well as drive trends themselves.
- Community - Develop a broad and acknowledged community, exchanging and driving our automotive security technology domain.

The Vehicle Cybersecurity Trend Radar is developed by researchers from the Institute of Energy Efficient Mobility at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA). The scientific foundation and methodology of this project are rooted in academic research and expertise from this institution.

Sponsorship not only allows us to create and maintain this trend radar, but also enables activities like this website. Remaining resources will be always put into community benefits like events and extending materials. Also we want to finance further research activities into trends of the phase of "long" and "medium". The benefits for sponsors (besides the glory), early access to the materials! Interested to become a sponsor and support this project? Write to sponsorship@automotivesecuritytrends.com. Thanks to all our current sponsors!
